Causes of heart palpitations

Stress, anxiety, exercise, emotions, components or ingredients in food or beverages, can all trigger heart palpitations. If you have never had heart palpitations before, bring them to the attention of your health care provider. Stress and obesity have also been found behind these palpitations.
Although heart palpitations can feel as if you are experiencing a life-threatening episode, remembering they are not dangerous or harmful can go a long way toward learning to control, manage and live with heart palpitations and anxiety attacks. There are also many different drugs that can cause heart palpitations. These include:
• Alcohol
• Some anti-depressants
• Decongestants
• Salbutamol (Ventolin)
