Signs of pneumonia at elderly
January 19th, 2012 | by oa |Pneumonitis refers to lung inflammation; pneumonia refers to pneumonitis, usually due to infection but sometimes non infectious, that has the additional feature of pulmonary consolidation. If you have any of the signs of pneumonia, you should get diagnosed early and start taking medicine, if appropriate. Pneumonia may originate in the lung or may be a focal complication of a contiguous or systemic inflammatory process. An elderly person who experiences even a minor cough and weakness for more than a day should seek medical help.
Bacteria and viruses are the primary causes of pneumonia. If bacteria are causing the pneumonia, the doctor will try to cure the infection with antibiotics. In some cases, bacteria can be passed from person to person causing pneumonia to be spread through the air.
